What Is Annual Giving?

One of the questions we hear most often is:

"What exactly is Annual Giving, and how is it different from donating to a specific project?"

Annual Giving, previously known as the Annual Fund, is an investment in the future of ISD.

As a non-profit school, every euro we receive is reinvested directly into our students, programmes, faculty, and facilities. While tuition allows us to deliver an exceptional educational experience, Annual Giving helps us seize opportunities, support innovation, and invest in projects that enhance school life.

Annual Giving allows ISD to make seed investments in promising ideas and launch initiatives before dedicated funding has been secured.

Unlike an endowment, which is often invested over the long term, Annual Giving is focused on creating impact today. Most contributions are allocated and utilised within a year, ensuring timely and meaningful benefits for our students and community.

Why Is Annual Giving Important?

Schools operate in a constantly changing environment. Student needs evolve, facilities age, and new opportunities emerge.

Annual Giving provides the resources to act when those opportunities arise and invest where support can have the greatest impact.

Annual Giving in Action

Recent projects supported through Annual Giving include touch-free water refill stations, a bike repair station, virtual reality headsets that enhance classroom learning, and seed funding for both the Elementary School Library transformation and the Senior School Outdoor Area project.

Some initiatives can be fully funded through Annual Giving. Others begin with Annual Giving support and grow into larger project-specific fundraising efforts.

This is exactly how Annual Giving is intended to work: helping turn good ideas into reality while creating momentum for the projects of tomorrow.

Whether your gift is €10, €100, or €10,000, every contribution combines with others to create meaningful opportunities for our students and strengthen our school.

Tax Benefits in Germany

Many members of our community are not aware that donations to ISD are tax deductible in Germany.

In general, charitable contributions, including donations to ISD, can be deducted up to 20% of your taxable income, allowing you to support ISD while benefiting from available tax advantages.
