ToucanTech Platform – Terms of Use
1. Purpose of the Platform
ToucanTech is provided by the International School of Düsseldorf e.V. (“ISD”, “the School”) as a secure digital platform to support communication, fundraising, and alumni engagement across the school community.
The platform enables the School to share relevant updates, coordinate events, strengthen connections between current parents, staff, and alumni, and facilitate advancement initiatives, including the Annual Fund and other school-supported campaigns.
2. Scope and Acceptance
These Terms of Use apply to all users of the ToucanTech platform, including parents, guardians, staff, and alumni.
By registering for and using the platform, users agree to comply with these Terms.
3. Eligibility and Access
Access is granted only to authorised members of the ISD community. Accounts are personal and may not be shared or transferred.
Users must:
Provide accurate and up-to-date information
Maintain the confidentiality of login credentials
Inform the School immediately of any unauthorised access
4. Acceptable Use
Users agree to use the platform solely for school-related purposes and in a respectful, responsible manner aligned with ISD’s community standards.
Users must not:
Post or distribute unlawful, offensive, defamatory, or discriminatory content
Share confidential or internal school information without authorisation
Use the platform for commercial, political, or private business purposes
Infringe intellectual property rights
5. User-Generated Content
Users are responsible for the content they post.
By submitting content, users grant ISD a non-exclusive, royalty-free right to use, display, and manage such content within the platform for school-related purposes.
ISD reserves the right to remove or restrict content that breaches these Terms or applicable law.
6. Data Protection and GDPR Compliance
ISD processes personal data in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (“GDPR”) and the German Federal Data Protection Act (Bundesdatenschutzgesetz, BDSG).
Personal data may include, but is not limited to, names, contact details, profile information, and engagement activity within the platform.
Processing is carried out for the purposes of:
School communication
Community engagement
Event management
Fundraising and advancement activities
Alumni relations
ToucanTech acts as a data processor on behalf of ISD under a data processing agreement in accordance with Article 28 GDPR.
Users acknowledge that:
Certain profile information may be visible to other authorised users within the platform
They must not download, share, or reuse personal data of other users without a valid legal basis or consent

7. Data Subject Rights
Users have the right to:
Access their personal data (Article 15 GDPR)
Request rectification or erasure (Articles 16–17 GDPR)
Restrict or object to processing (Articles 18–21 GDPR)
Lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority
Requests may be directed to ISD or the appointed Data Protection Officer.
8. Security
ISD implements appropriate technical and organisational measures in accordance with Article 32 GDPR.
Users are responsible for safeguarding their login credentials and must report any suspected misuse or data breach without delay.
9. Platform Availability and Changes
ISD does not guarantee uninterrupted access to the platform and may suspend or modify services as required for operational, legal, or security reasons.

ISD may suspend or terminate access where:
These Terms are breached
The platform is misused
Legal, safeguarding, or operational concerns arise
11. Liability
ISD is not responsible for user-generated content.
To the extent permitted by law, ISD shall not be liable for damages arising from the use of the platform, except in cases of intent or gross negligence.
12. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Germany. The place of jurisdiction is Düsseldorf, where legally permissible.
