Senior School Outdoor Spaces: Bringing Our Plans to Life

When our Elementary School students received their brand-new playground, the excitement was impossible to miss. But it did not take long before some of our older students started asking an important question:

“What about us?”

We heard the same message from parents and teachers. Our Senior School students wanted more opportunities to be active, spend time with friends, enjoy their breaks and make better use of our outdoor spaces throughout the school day.

We listened. And things are already happening!

Thanks to the generosity of our community and funds raised through last year's Annual Giving, we have already started improving our Senior School outdoor areas.

New outdoor seating has been installed, giving students more places to meet, eat lunch and spend time together during their breaks. We have also added a new protective net, making the area more practical for everyday use.

And there's more to come!

Our next steps include introducing additional outdoor games and recreational activities, beautifying the surrounding areas and adding a covered space that can be used for both indoor and outdoor activities.

Our ambition goes beyond simply adding new furniture or equipment. We want to create a space that feels active, welcoming and distinctly ISD: somewhere students can connect, recharge, play, collaborate and simply enjoy spending time together.

A space shaped by our community.

The plans have been developed with feedback from students, parents and teachers. Thanks to the generosity of our donors, we have dedicated a significant portion of last year's Annual Giving funds to bringing these improvements to life.

And we want the conversation to continue. As the space develops, we welcome new ideas and want to involve students in deciding what comes next.
