WHY I GIVE

When I went to school, it was mainly one thing: a process to get through. There is little that I remember with real fondness today, neither special moments of encouragement or teachers who really saw us as individuals.

This makes the contrast with what our children experience every day at ISD.

We have been accompanying this school life for four and a half years now – and what impresses us from the very beginning has become even more apparent with each passing year:

Here, our children are seen. Not as grades, not as a grade level, not as a number – but as individuals with their own strengths, questions, pace, and dreams.

The teachers and the entire ISD team exemplify the values described in the school brochures and on the website. Open ears, genuine appreciation, space for own thoughts, the courage to ask questions and being free to be different, cosmopolitanism instead of narrow-mindedness; all of this is part of everyday life here.

Our children are allowed to grow up to be independent-minded, curious, and at the same time connected individuals. That is exactly what we find so valuable that we want to contribute to it. We want this atmosphere, this attitude, and this quality of relationships to be preserved in the future.

That is why my husband and I donate to the ISD, out of deep gratitude and the conviction that we are privileged to experience something very special here for our children, and indeed for the entire school community. 

We want to help ensure that this “something special” can continue to grow and thrive.
